Online Creative Sprint Circles
Virtual co-working spaces for artists and writers. We show up, set intentions, work quietly together, and check in after. No teaching. Just accountability, presence, and momentum.

Your neurodivergence can be a creative superpower! How can you take a trait that has interfered with your creative productivity, and transform it into an asset? Panelists will discuss strategies for managing creative energy, working with (rather than against) neurodivergent tendencies, and balancing structure versus spontaneity in artistic practice.
Panelists: Sumiko Saulson (M), Celeste C. Tyler, Erin Cairns, Niikki Rossignol-McCoy, Sam Roberts
Thursday, August 14th 2025 / Room 334, Noon–1 p.m.
Seattle WorldCon
How do you define your creative self, and how do you feel about how the rest of the world defines you and what you do? Every term for a person who creates has some assumptions and historical/cultural baggage attached. Do you feel that you had to “earn” the term you use to define what you do, or push back against gatekeeping? Are you a “real” artist? And yes, impostor syndrome will be part of this discussion too.
Panelists: J.S. Fields (M), Elise Stephens, Meg Frank , Megan Lloyd, Sam Roberts
Sunday, August 17th 2025 / Room 334, 1:30–2:30 p.m.
Seattle WorldCon
As anyone who’s ever tried to create something knows that the biggest hurdle is starting in the first place. How do you create and maintain the motivation to go from talking about what you want to make (armchair making) to actually building things?
Panelists: Carole I. Parker (M), Carrie Vaughn, Sam Roberts, Jeff Sturgeon, Kendra Tornheim

The Art of Sustainable Creativity
This workshop guided creatives through the messy middle between inspiration and completion. We explored why great ideas often stall out, how to choose which projects to pursue, and how to move from scattered thoughts to structured action. Attendees left with practical tools for shaping ideas, setting priorities, and building creative momentum that lasts beyond the initial spark.

Attendees walked away with practical tools for managing their time, navigating blocks, and sustaining their practice with clarity and care.
Finish What You Start
A workshop for creatives ready to move past stalled projects and finally follow through. We unpacked the psychology of resistance, the real reasons creative work gets abandoned, and how to build a process that supports completion without burnout. Portland Book Festival Cover to Cover Program
As part of Portland Book Festival’s Cover to Cover series, Saint Violet Creative invites you to create your own one-page zine that folds into a small booklet. Using prompts from Sam Roberts’ book The Defiant Creative Process, participants will explore questions about voice, resistance, and what it means to make work that matters on their own terms. All materials provided (though you are free to bring your own as well!). Free and open to the public.
